Access Point: Potential
"Your potential is irrelevant if you do not surround yourself with people who will challenge you, inspire you, and push you to realize it."
- James McPartland
I am frequently reminded of the wise words I first heard years ago: "Who you spend the most time with is who you become.”
We have a tendency to compare ourselves to those we see play the game of life at a higher level. But when we stop at the mere comparison, noting only the dissimilarities and where we don’t measure up, we become demotivated at a time when we are in great need of a spark of inspiration.
The opportunity in the exercise of comparing ourselves to other high performers lies in the necessary follow-up practice of aspiring to their level of greatness by examining how they think, act, and interpret their world. From that perspective, we can study how to best approach life and learn from those who have discovered a formula to achieve their dreams, goals, and aspirations.
If you will look consistently in your pursuit of mastery, you will find clues, introductions to teachers, and the deepening stability of a relationship with the only person who can unlock our true potential… YOU.
So as we head into the new year, pursuing all our hopes, dreams and aspirations, don’t forget to have those frequent meetings with yourself, making sure to spend lots of time with YOU-- it will have the greatest impact on who you become.
