Access Point <The Gift of Gratitude>

“Gratitude is one of the best barometers of presence."

- James K. McPartland

The research tells us that we have anywhere from 50,000 to 70,000 thoughts a day. Up to 90% are the same as yesterday, and close to 80% are negative. We often think about what went wrong in the past, and experience levels of anxiety as we anticipate what is ahead of us. All of this goes on in the "now" moments of our lives.

Like any skill we want to master, gratitude grows stronger with exercise and practice. It is impossible to be disappointed and grateful at the same time, and we don't feel fear when we are giving thanks for all we have been blessed with. And, gratitude is the ultimate place to receive the "gifts" from those special people in our lives who bring us their best each day.

One of the best ways to be thankful is to give thanks throughout your day. Life returns to us what we give it - and presence is one of those very rare gifts that shows up simultaneously to our expression of gratitude.
