"What people defend against is often the very thing they need most in order to grow. Our greatest gifts are often hidden behind our greatest fears." — James McPartland
Where we are most sensitive, most stubborn, and most exposed is where we expend the most efforts to conceal. Our deepest fears are like dragons guarding our deepest treasures. It is our resistance that consistently points toward our highest aspiration, which is also what it wants to stop us from achieving. The bigger the dream, the action step, or the decision that will lead us to our most powerful growth, the more forceful the resistance will feel.
Imagine the freedom, strength, and fulfillment that would be available to us if we could harvest the energy trapped inside of our avoidance. It may be that we get closest to the soul when we work to disarm its defenses.
