As it is with any sporting event, those who take the field, court, ice, or floor, are subject to the circumstances that present themselves at any given moment. Weather, equipment, illness, competition, crowd, history, expectations, and sponsors are symbolic of the variables that we encounter and often can not prepare for when we "play the game.” How we interpret these conditions determines how we perform on any given day. While we can neither predict nor prevent many of these situations, it is in how we choose to translate them that greatly influences our personal performance.
