Identity

"A demonstration of our authentic self is when we have something to say, and yet nothing to prove."

James McPartland

It is not unusual for us to say "yes" when we really mean "no". We often offer praise to a person because that is how others in the room are speaking to them at the moment. We want to be liked and frequently engage to elicit a certain set of responses from the people in our universe.

Accepting what is and what isn't, with no need to attempt to change either, is an example of being comfortable in our own skin. Closing the gap between who we are and who we want others to think we are is the bridge to our true identity. It is a full time job being our self and we lose part of that when we subcontract it out to an image that is unsustainable.
