Finish Before You Even Begin

“In the absence of clearly-defined goals, we become strangely loyal to performing daily trivia until ultimately we become enslaved by it.”

– Robert Heinlein, American Novelist

I came to understand, many years ago, that one way to experience a productive and fulfilling day is to finish it before you start it. By that I mean, plan it the night before, sleep on the plan, review and adjust it at the start of your day, and then simply work the plan. It is important to keep the plan visible – to both stay on track and to adjust for any modifications that arise as the day unfolds.

A day represents the miniature version of our life. Victories in life are a result of victories in the days that add up to our life..
