Access Point: Shift Your Focus

"We are wherever we place our attention."

Access Point: Shift Your Focus | James McPartland Blog

In life, our way of seeing things is also our way of not seeing things. We bend interpretations of events, and of people, to reinforce our beliefs.

Denial is one of our strongest addictions, and blame is one of its most convenient disguises. Blame finds us giving away our power. It attributes responsibility for the quality of our life experiences to someone or something else. It is like accusing the mirror for the content of its reflection.

We are responsible for the quality of our experiences. The choice to take personal responsibility is the doorway of transformation. When we find ourselves stuck in a state of negativity, complaining, or in lack of gratitude, recognizing where we have been focusing our attention and intentionally shifting our focus equips us to take back our power.

Let not anxiety of the past, nor fear of the future, steal your gift of this present moment experience. Though we never fully arrive, strive to master the art of being present. This practice is what puts us on a path to take full responsibility for the quality of our life experiences.

And when we own those experiences, no matter how they feel, we are in the flow of now, which is the ultimate gift.
